His recovery move is very slow, covers a short horizontal distance, and has no active hitbox other than the shots he can fire while using it, leaving him wide-open to edgeguards. However, Mega Man suffers from weak mobility and relatively slow close-range attacks, making it difficult to fend off fast characters that can close the distance.

He can also apply extra pressure with Crash Bomber, forcing opponents into shield or otherwise putting them into undesirable positions because of its ability to detonate on-command.

His forward tilt, up tilt, down smash, back air, up air, and fully charged Mega Buster are strong KO moves in their own right. He can also cancel Mega Buster into Beat Call, allowing for instant followups with any aerial for solid mixup or combo potential. He has a strong array of projectiles, including a frame 1 Mega Buster and a long lasting multi-hitting Water Wave, giving him excellent stage control and frame trapping capabilities. Mega Man is currently ranked 26th on the tier list for Version 1.3.1.2 of the game. Approximately half of his moves are taken from that game, while the other half are based on his original moveset. He was officially added to the game in Version 0.5b using his classic Mega Man 7 sprites, but was given a total visual and moveset overhaul in Beta 1.0 in an attempt to make him more closely resemble his counterpart in Super Smash Bros.
